Barenaked Ladies

Barenaked LadiesWhile I was up in Québec, watching CBC‘s The Hour, hosted by the ever so adorable George Stroumboulopoulos, I learned about this great band. Anyway, Strombo was intereviewing Canadian group Barenaked Ladies, and wow, what a great found for me from the trip. They are cool, their music is fun, poppy and awesome! I have acquired their last 2 albums and have been listening to them ever since.

From The Hour‘s website,

Steven Page and Ed Robertson, live at the Hour. They have a new CD out, “Barenaked Ladies are Men”, and are about to launch a cross Canada tour, on January 31st, in Victoria – “The Barenaked Planet Tour”.

The band has developed a reputation for fighting copyright restrictions, like DRM, and they’re using innovative approaches to let fans do what they want with their music, for instance they’ve released their album on a USB stick.

They also are doing their part to stop global warming and are teamed up with an environmental group, Reverb. The idea is to develop a “Barenaked Planet” at each tour stop and cut the amount of waste and CO2 emissions they use on tour.

And since their latest album, Barenaked Ladies Are Men, is sold as MP3s on a USB drives, album art is available to be downloaded on the website.
