I love ice-cream cakes

Wednesday, July 26th, 2006

I secretly wanted an ice-cream cake for my birthday, but I didn’t ask. Glad that M. made the move and got me one. It was a total surprise. I don’t think I have ever had an ice-cream cake for my birthday before, so I have already wanted one. That’s right, 30, you saw it. Don’t say a word. Not that I need to be reminded of, nor that I have a problem with it. I just don’t need it right now. I had a really fun birthday. Thanks to everyone who mananged to come!

Book Art Portfolio Web site Launched

Thursday, July 20th, 2006

After a few weeks of hard work, my portfolio web site dedicated to book art is completed. The marjory of the work was digging around all the pictures I have taken for the books, selecting and retouching them. There are about 70 books I have documented on the site so far. It should be much easier to update as it goes.

Let’s talk tech here for those of you who are interested: the site is created in PHP with MySQL. All the entries of the books are stored in MySQL so the pages are generated dynamically. I am considering deploying AJAX for retrieving the descriptions and thumbnails for the books, that should alleviate the annoying reloading of the page every time one clicks on a thumbnail.
