Favorite JW movie of all times

Monday, November 26th, 2007

I was in Baltimore for Thanksgiving. We went by The Senator Theatre, and of course, there are tons of imprints on the sidewalk right in front of the theatre. I took a picture of the imprint of John Water’s Serial Mom, my favorite John Waters’s movie. It was premiered on April 5, 1994, at The Senator Theatre.

My favorite line from the movie, of course, is, “Beverly, honey, you’ve got some… do-do on your shoe.” (full script can be found here)

Counting down

2 more weeks to go. The wait is finally over. First time in 5 years. My God, the anxiety is tremendous. My appetite is tremendous!

The food, I am so looking forward to eat everything that I have been missing. Congee, rice crepes, dim sum, Hainan chicken rice, spaghetti with meat sauce (Hong Kong style), wonton, and fish balls from street hawkers!

See you in December, Hong Kong!

Frozen Rabbit

rabbit ice sculpture
While I was in Québec during the Winter Canrival, ice sculptures were found everywhere. One of them, guess what, was a rabbit. Cold but cute. See that sign in the back of the picture, it’s a rabbit too. I wasn’t paying attention then otherwise I would’ve checked out what store that was. Anyway, it was located at the lower town, “Basse-Ville.”

A weekend in Baltimore

Salt - interior - BaltimoreAnother weekend was spent in Baltimore. We drove down Thursday night for MG’s uncle’s funeral. SG took us to this new restauarant which I have read about in Baltimore’s City Paper a few months ago, as the best new restaurant in the city of the year.

The food was pretty good. I had Cornmeal Crusted Chile Relleno (smoked pork, aged white cheddar and tomatillo salsa) as the appetizer, which can totally serve as a main course. Gee, I only wished I knew. And then I had Sugarcane Skewered Pork Tenderloin (with sweet potato & andouille sausage hash and ancho bourbon glaze) as the main course, which took them forever to serve, because the waitress took the wrong order: they brought me Filet Mignon, something that I almost never order.

The pork tenderloin was, very intense. It’s flavorful, and it’s super spicy, which I like. I liked it very much, but I guess I was already half-full from the appetizer otherwise I’d have enjoyed it even more.

Dessert was a jar of cookies. Interesting. But then again, it’s way too much food.

We managed to finally catch Shortbus down there. We finally saw our friends KL and JG making out as the “sextras” in one of the orgy scene. We were psyched about that. I also think that KL is playing as an extra at some point near the end of the movie, talking to some person, with his back to the camera. I’ll need to confirm that, I suppose. It’s a fun movie to watch, but somehow I expected a lot more from it. The thing is, nothing much to talk about afterwards.
